It looks like the person who used to handle Britney Spears’ social media has spoken out now. Her name is Cassie Petrey and her name has been dragged by supporters of the #FreeBritney movement for some time after speculation that she’s been behind the star’s social media posts.
Person Formerly Responsible For Britney Spears’ Social Media Posts Speaks Out
Petrey has recently come out and said that the Britney Army has “truly redefined what it means to be the ultimate fandom” which is true, we really haven’t seen this kind of fan support in well.. ever. Okay, we’ll give her that.
Earlier this year, Petrey made sure to state that Britney Spears “creates her own posts and writes her own captions for Instagram.” according to Radar Online. This came on the back of mounting accusations that Cassie was the one writing Spears’ posts, and not the pop singer herself.
She also went on her Instagram story to tell all the people who had apparently been bullying her and since apologized that she was grateful for their apologies.
She said that she knew the hate was “coming from a good place” and that everyone had Britney’s best interest at heart ultimately and truly, that is what the fans were after – Britney’s best interest. So we’ll hand it to her for at least being a good sport about all the hate she was receiving.
She said, “There are things I could have handled and done better.” and “Hindsight is 20/20. I did the best I could with information I had at different times in this journey.” which implies that Petrey wasn’t really informed of all the goings on by the conservatorship.
Honestly, this truly isn’t all that surprising, it would totally make sense that Britney’s former team would only hire people and keep them informed on a “need to know” basis. She said that she had been doing good on working on her health up until last year, and that 2020 was “a dark year” for her and that being attacked on the daily from all fronts had taken a toll on her and she was glad to have “some light” now.
Of that sentiment, the entire movement can only sit back and say, “Tell us about it!”. So it looks like Britney isn’t the only one who’s glad that her 13 year long hellish conservatorship is over. So far she hasn’t commented on Petrey’s post and she probably won’t, but if she does say anything we’ll keep you posted. Stay tuned!
