So, it looks like they really aren’t the A-listers that they thought they were, huh? Apparently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not make it onto the invite list for former President Barack Obama’s massive 60th birthday party, which took place at the Obama’s private estate at Martha’s Vineyard this past weekend.
Even though other A-listers such as Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney were there, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were nowhere to be seen. Does this mean that the Sussexes aren’t the A-list stars they thought they were? Here’s what you need to know.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Shunned From Biggest A-List Gathering Of The Year
According to the New York Daily News, the Obamas scaled back their party because of Covid-19 concerns, but that didn’t stop some of their closest friends from coming. The guest list included A-listers such as George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Stephen Spielberg and Bruce Springsteen along with Oprah Winfrey and Ava DuVernay. Notably absent were royal Californians, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
And while it’s been noted that the Delta variant, responsible for a massive spike in cases nationwide, prompted the Obamas to scale back their initial 475-person guest list, you’d think at least one of the Sussexes would have showed up for the party, but that didn’t happen.
Regardless of who was there or not, of course it didn’t take very long for critics to slam the Obamas for throwing a huge party during a time in which Covid-19 cases are on the rise in many parts of the country, U.S. House GOP conference chairwoman Elise Stefanik told the NY Post in a new interview, “Democrats are imposing forced vaccine mandates, unscientific masks mandates, and are openly discussing lockdowns, while President Obama gathers with hundreds of maskless liberal elites who flew in on private jets with no vaccine requirement to attend.”
She also pointed out that the two other people who didn’t make it on the invite list were New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and his brother, Chris Cuomo.
