ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) lucked out at that big meeting. The Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) situation, though? Not so much. Let’s take a look at how it went wrong, why Carly was right to have some guilt, and why the writers missed an opportunity.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The plan backfires
So, ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal everything was pretty much going to plan. That is, except for one thing—Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud). When Jason realized she could be in serious danger, he decided to run back in GH to save her. This led to a delay in the escape, a bullet wound, and some potentially tough questions ahead for everyone involved.
Sure, Carly couldn’t have planned on Britt mistaking one of Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) plants for someone on their side. Nor could she have controlled Jason’s decision to run back in.
But the way the whole thing went down proved Jason had a point when he initially said no to the escape plan. In any plot, there’s always unexpected complications, and they should have resigned themselves to Jason staying put while Carly did what Carly eventually had to do.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The latest
Now that the safe house was exposed, Jason and Britt are hiding out elsewhere. This has Carly nervous, and she’s still not 100% on board with Dr. Westbourne being alone with Jason. Despite everything she’s done so far, Carly still doesn’t trust her. That, we think, isn’t fair. We’ll get to why in a second. First, we want to talk about a missed opportunity on the writers’ part.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Of course
The Monday episode featured Carly dealing with the stress of all this stuff going on around her. ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal she actually had a moment of severe self-doubt going on. Carly admitted to Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) that the escape was, in fact, her idea.
And that everything that happened as a result is also on her. We think this was a great show of humility and a lesson for Carly to carry forward. After all, if she thinks Jason is so great and his instincts are so on point, why would she argue his objections to her escape idea?
Why wouldn’t she take him seriously when Jason insisted Britt is to be trusted in this situation? She could have learned from that, carrying that lesson with her into all the other decisions she’ll have to make.
After all, she already declared she was the one who’s calling the shots now at that meeting. It wouldn’t look right to have Jason suddenly the one representing the organization again. It would show instability.
But did they do all this? No. Instead, Joss went out of her way to tell Carly all the reasons why nothing is actually her fault. Joss even went on about how Jason only does what he feels is best, so therefore, it was a validation of Carly’s choices.
We disagree. Jason wasn’t in much of a position to argue anything, and Carly was relentless. If he has one weakness in judgement, it’s letting her talk him into something that was obviously against his instincts.
But it looks like the new Queen of the Corinthos empire can never be wrong. We can’t wait to see how they make her into the vindicated, victimized party when the truth about the whole Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) situation comes out.
Yes, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) is making her own choices right now, but if Carly had just listened when Nina called, this wouldn’t be happening. Yet another situation she didn’t help that she’ll be absolved of. We think it’s definitely time for that to change.
