Alec Baldwin has a few things to say about a controversy that he is not a part of this time. The Hollywood actor is defending Bruce Springsteen after the hit matter was charged with DUI after being accused of drinking under the influence last year. However, Alec believes that Springsteen may have been issues a summons for other reasons.
Alec, who often likes to express his views on social media, took to his Twitter account to write, “I wonder if Springsteen’s arrest [sic] had anything to do with his politics.” And even though Alec cites no evidence for his suspicion, he is pointing out at the timing of the news, as Springsteen’s run-in with the law happened three months ago.
Alec Baldwin Has Thoughts To Share About Bruce Springsteen’s DUI Incident
The ‘Born to Run’ singer was arrested at Gateway National Recreational Area in Sandy Hook, NJ on Nov. 14 and charged with DUI, reckless driving, and consuming alcohol in a closed area. He has a court date in the coming weeks and has no known prior busts for DUI.
Of course, there were other celebrity reactions that suggest many are backing ‘The Boss.’ “They arrested Bruce Springsteen in New Jersey! This is Sacrilegious,” actor Michael Rapaport wrote. “Would you arrest the Pope in Italy? Free The Boss!”
After the singer made headlines for arrest, one source close to the situation decided to clear up some rumors by sharing more information about what happened.
“When this is all resolved, I think, people are gonna have some serious doubts about the seriousness of this, especially when the actual details of this are revealed, including the blood alcohol level,” the source told CNN.
“I don’t know why they stopped him,” the source continued. “I mean technically you’re not allowed to drink in a state park and I don’t know, maybe, if a policeman sees somebody drinking and doesn’t give them a ticket, they lose their job,” the individual added. “Any kind of alcohol related driving thing is serious,” the source added.
Because the alleged offense occurred on federal land, Springsteen will face federal enclave-court Judge Anthony Mautone in Newark, likely via videoconference later this month, according to Matthew Reilly, a spokesman for the US Attorney’s Office in Newark.
