LeAnn Rimes has had a busy, and transformative 2020. And 2021 is looking to be no exception. Let’s take a look at how the singer’s opened up to different avenues in one of the craziest years ever. Plus, what she’s got planned for the future.
LeAnn Rimes changes it up
First, most probably know LeAnn Rimes as the teen country singer with the Patsy Cline voice. Others know her from a period where she was very-tabloid heavy. She seemed to disappear from the mainstream radar for a while, but she came back in 2020 with a vengeance.
First, she went deeper into her blog, Soul of Everle, which talks about lifestyle and spiritual topics. She started creating candles, a couple of chants, and even did some live meditations for the brand.
This was a first step to an uncomfortable time that brought a lot of new opportunities. Rimes talked on the Soul Of Everle account about being invited to speak at an event, and lead a chant.
That led to her new podcast, Wholly Human. In the first episode, she spoke about what a nerve-wracking experience that speaking event was, how out of her comfort zone, as she was used to getting on stage to sing.
They say great things happen when we come out of the comfort zone, and that led to her getting a podcast with IHeartRadio, where she discusses her healing process, as well as speak with guests who’ve helped along the way. She even appeared on the Masked Singer as The Sun and won. But that’s not all.
The other side of LeAnn Rimes
Again, most of us know Rimes as a musician and songwriter. She hasn’t been shy about changing it up, as she went a lot more pop with Twisted Angel, and Pop/Rock with Whatever We Wanna. The latter was released in Europe. Now, she’s added something else to the mix.
We mentioned her releasing a couple of chants on her account, which also appear on the Insight Timer app. She was also including chants she sang over the candles she created with each order.
In 2020, she decided to take these and other chants she’d been channeling in meditation and put them into a full album. It’s called “Chant: The Human and the Holy” and is available on all digital retailers. The record includes chants that a couple of simple phrases acapella to several that are longer and include music.
One fans might find familiar is “What I Cannot Change.” It’s based on the single of the same name from her album, Family. It’s an interesting take, and she changed up the few that had already been widely released.
What’s next for LeAnn Rimes
So, what’s next for LeAnn Rimes? After performing a couple of her chants on a morning show and taking part in the New Year festivities on FOX, she’s looking to a couple of releases in 2021.
One being a new album of music. The first single, “Throw My Arms Around the World” is unlike anything the singer’s done before, and it seems to combine her new love of chanting with more conventional music.
The track, which talks about the power we all have collectively, and her feelings as she connected with the earth as a tribal/world sound that is infectious. Check it out if you haven’t already.
In addition to that, we should expect another chant release as well. She recently announced on her Twitter she started channeling the next, so we’re curious to see how that one will turn out. Stay tuned to see what other surprises Rimes might have for fans in the future.
