The anticipation ahead of UFC 252 is slowly building with millions around the world expecting to turn in to watch the main event between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier. However, the action on the undercard also looks set to be entertaining, with one of the co-main events being the Bantamweight contest between Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera.
There is a lot of expectancy on the shoulders of O’Malley already, and he will be looking to continue his momentum against Vera, who has already been beaten on six previous occasions. Will the 25-year-old be able to keep his unbeaten run in UFC going?
UFC 252: O’Malley One Of The Hottest Prospects
The O’Malley record is something to truly behold, as he has certainly taken to the UFC like a fish to water. The 25-year-old has been competing with the company since 2017 after making a name for himself in the Intense Championship.
During that run, he picked up five victories on the bounce. He is yet to lose in five years of being a professional, and he has only been taken to a decision on three occasions throughout his career.
The future is certainly bright for O’Malley, and he comes into this bout after winning his last three. The first of those came at UFC 222 where he beat Andre Soukhamthath via unanimous decision.
However, his last two have been brutal first round victories against Jose Alberto Quinonez at UFC 248 and Eddie Wineland at UFC 250. There is already a big fight building up against Cody Garbrandt, and this could simply be a stepping stone.
UFC 252: Vera Looking For Huge Shock
Vera will come into this fight as the huge outsider having lost his last fight in the UFC, which was on the undercard of the Overeem vs Harris bout in May this year. He lost via unanimous decision on that occasion against Song Yadong.
However, before that fight, he was on an impressive run of five victories on the bounce. Among the opponents that he beat during that time were Andre Ewell, Frankie Saenz and Guido Cannetti.
O’Malley will be the heavy favourite due to the huge advantage that he has on the record he holds. Vera has lose on six occasions in his 22 fights, but he has only lost once in two years. Regardless, it would be extremely hard to see past O’Malley winning this fight on Saturday night.
