Univision Rubí spoilers may be over, but Camila Sodi isn’t staying idle. One day after the Gran Final, she showed off her latest project. This time, she’s taking on the music world. It’s not her first time in that business, and her aunt, Thalia, is well-known for her own musical career. But is Camila about to take over? Let’s take a look at what’s going on.
Univision Rubí Spoilers: Camila Sodi the singer
We mentioned in an article about Rubí that Camila sings the theme song. It’s called, “A Quien Le Importa” (Who Cares?). Originally recorded by her aunt, Thalia, in 2002, it’s a fast-paced track about how the narrator owns her life, and her choices. She doesn’t care what others have to say about these choices, and she’s not planning to change. Camila owned the vocals, and put her own spin on the material. We think she did a great job of embodying the message of the song, as well as what it means for her character. It was the perfect musical choice. But, there’s more to her musical journey than that.
Univision Rubí Spoilers: Camila Sodi rebels
Growing up with a high-profile family, and looking/sounding quite a bit like her famous aunt, it was natural that Camila would want to make her own way in the world. In the early part of the last decade Camila Sodi became “Ella y el Muerto”. The title loosely translates to “She and the dead”. In an article from that time, Camila talked a bit about her work as a presenter and actress, and how the music happened. She’d described it as a bit of rebellion and how it was her way of getting that side out of her. It’s a haunting, moody sound and you can see several clips on the YouTube. But these days, it seems Camila’s embracing a less dark form of musical expression.
Univision Rubí Spoilers: Camila Sodi returns
While she’s been acting in novelas such as Falsa Identitdad (Fake Identity), there hasn’t been a lot of music from her since that project. All of that changed this past week. Her version of the Rubí theme is currently on sale at most digital retailers. But fans got to hear something on February 28th.
A song called “24 Horas” (24 Hours) was released, credited to The Wookies ft. Camila Sodi. In the video, Camila takes over as she sings over a slower techno beat than “A Quien Le Importa”. It gives off a fun, party vibe while also calling to mind a need to take advantage of a moment when it’s here. Check out the video above and see for yourself. We think her vocals are great, and we’re looking forward to what she might do next, musically.
