ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) Spoilers reveal there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes of a TV show. There are so many backstage people: crew, writers, crafts services, costumes, etc. that work tirelessly behind the scenes to make a show what it is. In the most recent Soap Opera Digest, the publication gave a spotlight to these people. One is the Lighting Director for General Hospital, Melanie Mohr. Let’s take a look at what she had to say about working on the series and how she progressed to her current job.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Her background
In the issue, Mohr talked about moving to LA in the early 2000s to chase a dream. She worked her way from theater to being part of the production warehouse that same year. She details all the positions she held at GH until the day she got her current job. It’s a great story about how being willing to work hard and pay dues leads to get things. She also spoke a bit about the worry she had when first taking the job, and how much the offer meant to her. But, that’s not all.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Crazy hours
In the issue, she spoke about the insane hours she keeps. She describes a typical day, from a production meeting to the end of the day, which can run from midnight until eight or nine in the evening. Talk about a grueling schedule! She does, however, point out it’s not quite as bad as it might seem. She only does this a few days a week. Even so, it sounds like quite a workday. So, what exactly goes into the sets and how challenging are some parts of the job?
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: By the numbers
Interestingly enough, Mohr found a practical use for Geometry in her everyday life. And how many of us wondered about that after taking the class in school? In the issue, she talked about how many lights are in use and how complicated it is to arrange them for the effect she wants. She says coming up with these designs is a lot like doing geometry. But the end result, she believes, is worth all the work.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Challenges and Favorites
In the interview, she spoke some about her favorite place to light. General Hospital spoilers indicate it’s Wyndemere. Check out the magazine to see her reason for that. We have to agree. But she also spoke a bit about one of her most challenging assignments. It also dealt with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). She remembered a scene from before Watros took over the part, when Nina and Valentin were on a Moroccan vacation. There was a tent that led to a lot of challenges. See the issue to find out why. You’ll also find out the insane number of lights it takes just to light the Nurses’ station alone. For any other soap opera and entertainment news, please visit Daily Soap Dish.
