ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) Spoilers indicate the writers seem to be trolling. We all know that the current drama in Washington (aka The Circus Comes to DC) has interrupted our regularly scheduled viewing. With NBC streaming Days of Our Lives online, and CBS doing the same for The Young and the Restless, it’s led to coming fusion. Fans want to know when they’ll get to see their episodes. Sadly, the answer is not what most want.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Deal
If you’re following the ‘General Hospital’ groups, there are rumors we’ll see at least an episode in early February. However, these rumors appear to be false. Most are in agreement one should not hold their breath for this, as a decision was already made a while back. No new episodes will air until the hearings are over. This could last another week or more, depending on how things go. If they vote to call more witnesses, it could drag on longer. But this leads to a bit of an issue with how the PTB are handling this.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Behind The Times
As we mentioned above, their competition made the decision to move forward online for the duration of the hearings. This is keeping content in the hands of their fans, while not breaking the momentum. Days, in particular, has been doing some excellent work this past week. And with the buzz over the Time Jump, we totally understand their decision not to keep fans waiting. However, ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal the same can’t be said for ABC. Two episodes of the show aired in Canada, but not in the US. That means US viewers are left with a massive cliffhanger that could’ve been a momentum builder for this series. Twitter is filled with fans going on about how the show is just getting good, as well as complaining about the short-sightedness of their handling. But we think there’s an even bigger problem.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Disrespect
It seems the show’s trolling a bit. ‘General Hospital’ spoilers indicate a promo came out recently showing a collection of big moments over the past few months or so. It was titled, “Victory 2020.” Since then, they’ve released several videos featuring various GH stars. In each one, they ask for patience and tell fans they’ll let them know as soon as they know what’s going on. There’s a couple of problems with this.
One, is they seem to already know. If the decision’s been made, why do they keep asking fans to have patience and they’ll let them know when/how they’ll see new episodes? Why not just be upfront and say, “we’ve made the decision to wait until they can air on TV”? It seems that would be the better more. Especially since they asked fans to stay tuned to social throughout the day for updates. No new posts appeared after that one until the following day. It seems they’re stringing fans along.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Hubris
Then there’s the other big problem. But not being upfront with fans and withholding content, they’re showing a bit of arrogance. Twitter comments indicate several fans have already moved on to DOOL, or other shows whose content they can see. Yes, die-hard fans will stick with the series, but the show needs more casual viewers to stay on the air. Does anyone see ‘All My Children’ or ‘One Life to Live’ anywhere? GH is ABC’s last one standing, as no other soaps came along to replace the canceled ones. They’re gambling on their future, and it’s a risky proposition in today’s environment.
In addition, these constant teases while pleading for patience because “It’s worth the wait” is also a bit arrogant. It’s time to be transparent, as this current strategy is how rumors and confusion get started. For any other soap opera and entertainment news, please visit Daily Soap Dish.
