‘Young and the Restless’ spoilers relate that Eric Braeden has a big reason to celebrate this week. That’s because the veteran actor has been playing Victor Newman for over 39 years now! That’s right – Eric has been portraying the Newman family patriarch and Genoa City villain since his debut on February 8, 1980. Here’s what you need to know.

‘Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) Celebrates Huge Milestone!

As many people know, Victor is the kind of man that people either want to love or want to hate. And then there are those who just love to hate him. Even though he’s done a lot of sinister and evil things in the past, Victor is the kind of person who will always protect his family at all costs.

At first, The Young and the Restless producers only wanted Eric to play Victor for a short period. But seeing just how great he was in the role, they decided to give him a full-time contract on the spot. At first, Eric didn’t want to work in daytime television on a long-term basis but agreed. Little did Eric know at the time that playing Victor Newman in The Young and the Restless would turn out to be a huge part of his acting legacy.

As far as what lies ahead for Victor remains to be seen. Right now he is apparently being framed for a murder that he didn’t commit. Clearly, it was his wife Nikki Newman who killed off JT Hellstrom but Victor is determined to not only protect his wife, but his family’s entire empire by fighting off whoever is trying to destroy the Newman name. It won’t be easy, considering that there is incriminating evidence that is being used against him. Of course, fans will have to tune in to find out what will happen next on The Young and the Restless. The soap airs weekdays on the CBS network.
