That’s because her ex-husband, who also happens to be a ‘General Hospital’ sound tech, has passed away. Here’s what you need to know.

According to reports, sound tech Christopher Banninger has a massive heart attack and passed away on Thursday, October 31. The news was first reported by Beth Maitland on her social media account. Even though the two were no longer married, it appears as though they still had a very friendly relationship, with Beth now mourning someone that she once dearly loved in her life.

Young and Restless Spoilers: Beth Maitland Shares Sad News
In her post Beth wrote, “He passed away with no pain and with dear friends holding his hand. He is survived by our daughter Emelia, and although you may know we were recently divorced, I have spent 35 years of loving this man with every ounce of me and I feel so sorry for the pain this loss brings to so many of you who loved him too.”
The couple first met when Christopher worked behind the scenes as a sound mixer in the soap opera industry. His last gig was on ‘General Hospital’ back in 2018. Christopher and Beth Maitland got married in 1989 and just like so many couples out there, have seen their fair share of ups and downs throughout their marriage. The ex-couple have one adult child together, Emelia. Christopher pulled the plug on their marriage on Valentine’s Day of 2016, leaving Beth heartbroken over the demise of their marriage.
Christopher also worked on various projects and movies in the Hollywood industry throughout his very long career. So far Beth Maitland herself has not made any comments about her ex-husband’s death, although it’s without a doubt that both she and her daughter are seeking comfort from loved ones at this time.
