WWE SmackDown aired last night and it was an action packed show full of dramatic action in-ring. Viewers learnt that Asuka will be challenging Bayley for the SmackDown women’s championship, as well as challenging Sasha Banks for the Raw women’s championship. Meanwhile, the storyline between Braun Strowman and The Fiend took another turn.
WWE News: Retribution Strikes Again
Retribution were back on the blue brand again this week, as they attacked superstars for the first time. They got involved in a match between Big E and John Morrison, as they laid out the New Day member and Morrison.
There was a tease that the group could be in line for their first match after the break, as Big E and King Corbin spoke backstage about the group and their interference. A possible match could be in the works for Survivor Series.
WWE News: Asuka Earns Title Opportunity
Asuka will be challenging for both the Raw and SmackDown women’s championships at SummerSlam, as she held off tough competition to win the battle royal that took place during SmackDown.
It was to determine who would be challenging Bayley for her title, and there was no shortage of high adrenaline action. Shayna Baszler, Naomi and Tamina were all involved in the match, before Asuka finally won the bout after throwing Baszler over the top rope in the final stages.
WWE News: Jeff Hardy Challenges AJ Styles
Jeff Hardy was back on SmackDown this week, as he threw down the challenge to AJ Styles after interrupting his promo. The high flying superstar came out and talked about the Intercontinental Championship and revealed that the title is one of the most important in the WWE to him.
It would now appear as though Hardy is next in line for a title opportunity, and fans will already be looking forward to the potential battle between the two superstars.
WWE News: Strowman Shows Off New Look
SmackDown closed with a segment involving Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss, as Bliss begged Strowman to calm down. Strowman was showing off a new look as he had shaved his head, before the mind games between the Monster and The Fiend continued to close the show.
Bliss tried to slap Strowman, before he picked her up and look like throwing her to the mat. The Fiend appeared and laughed before the show ended.
