When Harry’s book, “Spare,” was released, it was reported that when Meghan was first introduced to William, Kate chose to remain in the garden and ignored her.
The Truth About Meghan and Kate and Their First Meeting
“Spare” was accidentally released in Spain days before its official release in January 2023. A translation issue occurred (sound familiar?), and the truth is in the Spanish version of the book.
When William went to meet Meghan, Harry asked where Kate was, and William replied, “Out with the children.” The lies that Kate deliberately snubbed Meghan have been rampant.
The book recalls Meghna’s first meeting with Charles, Camilla, the Queen, and William but never actually talks about what happened when the two women met.
In the beginning, Meghan had remarked several times about how wonderful and lovely Kate was, but another publication has a different story.
The two of them had nothing in common, according to Omid Scobie’s “Endgame.” However, the Duchess of Sussex still wanted to bond with her.
The Duchess has said over the years that she was disappointed and let down that Catherine never visited her or taught her about life in the royal family.
Scobie has said that the two women’s lack of friendship is also primarily due to the rift between William and Prince Harry. Allegedly, William was constantly criticizing Harry’s relationship with the former actress.
The brothers were never that close, and the two drifted even further apart after “Spare” was released. William was furious.
Scobie explains,
“The Palace was certainly never shy about telling all the journalists in the press pack that these are two very different women. They’re not going to have much in common, but at least there’s respect here.”
The author said,
“But I think as we’ve seen, as the years have gone by, that it’s been even questionable whether that respect is even there.”
Omid Scobie Says the Rift Is Kate’s Fault
Omid commented about how Kate did not even try to help Meghan when she was struggling with mental health issues and accused Kate of being very “cold” to the Duchess.
“Kate is a mental health ambassador, and she focuses on pregnancy right up to age five,” Scobie scoffed, “You’d think that might have struck a chord with her.”
He also notes the distance that has been obvious between the two women for years. He said he doesn’t believe they have exchanged pleasantries since Meghan left the royal family.
Harry also said in “Spare” how much he desperately wanted to bond with his brother and sister-in-law, and he obviously wanted Meghan to be a part of the equation, but it didn’t work out that way.
Of course, the key moment that cemented the distance between Meghan and Kate was over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid’s dress.
While many accounts swear that Meghan made Kate cry, “Spare” claims it’s the other way around. Markle was also constantly competing with Middleton. Whatever Kate had, she had to have it as well.
No matter the cause, it is clear that these two powerful personalities will never be close.
