Unfortunately it looks like the situation at Balmoral Castle in Scotland is a dire one. That’s because the entire royal family are currently traveling to Scotland to be by Queen Elizabeth’s side. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who were supposed to be at a royal engagement in London this evening, have scrapped their plans to go see the monarch as well. Here’s what you need to know.
According to reports, Meghan and Harry join other members of the royal family in traveling to the Queen’s beloved Scottish retreat. Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Princess Anne are all already there, and Prince Edward, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Prince Andrew, and Prince William are also en route. However, it’s also being reported that Prince William and Kate Middleton have remained in Windsor because it is their children’s first day of school.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Cancel Plans To See Queen Elizabeth
Harry and Meghan had plans to attend the WellChild Awards Ceremony in London, but adjusted their plans so they can instead visit the 96-year-old queen, according to the Independent.
Buckingham Palace in a statement Thursday morning revealed that “the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.” A spokesperson declined to provide further details about the queen’s condition, but said she is “comfortable and at Balmoral.”
As many royal fans know by now, the reigning royal was last photographed on Tuesday during her meeting with Liz Truss, the nation’s newly appointed prime minister.
Many royal fans have commented on the matter with, “Yes, there is something cosmic about this happening while Harry and Meghan are in the U.K. Whether it’s the QE or some other force. I’m glad Harry can be there right now,” along with, “Poor Harry. No matter what, this is his grandmother and this must be soul wrenching. I am glad Meghan is with him.”
Another fan wrote, “The Sussexes as the rest of family are there to say their good byes. There is not much to say under these circumstances. May she rest in peace and may Harry and Meghan be protected. I only care about them after the queens passing. The press SHOULD focus on the queen and I hope that they do.”
