He’s certainly not wasting any time getting to work. Actor Johnny Depp and guitarist Jeff Beck have announced details of their new album featuring cover versions of songs by Irish piper Davy Spillane, The Beach Boys and John Lennon and two original songs by Depp. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

The 13-track album is called 18 and will be released on 15 July and arrives as Beck, who rose to fame in The Yardbirds, and Depp, who recently won his controversial case against his ex-wife Amber Heard, continue their European tour until July 25th. The first single from the album, a Depp original entitled This Is A Song For Miss Hedy Lamarr, is out now.

That said, leading reputation management lawyer Mark Stephens has said he feels the actor and his ex-wife Amber Heard have both created “indelible stains” on their careers. Stephens, a partner at Howard Kennedy and expert in reputation management, who was not involved in the case, told the PA news agency: “I think they both got indelible stains, that’s a major problem for people who make their livings by their reputation.”

In 2020, Depp took a similar libel action case to the UK court against The Sun newspaper over an article which labeled him a “wife beater.” However, in this instance, Mr Justice Nicol dismissed the Pirates Of The Caribbean star’s claim, saying News Group Newspapers (NGN) had proved what was in the article to be “substantially true” and this was later affirmed by the Court of Appeal.

Depp sued the Aquaman star for $50 million over the piece, titled: “I spoke up against sexual violence – and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.” While the article did not mention the actor by name, his lawyers said it falsely implied he physically and sexually abused Heard while they were together.
