On April 29th, 2022, Officer Vicki White, who had previously announced that that Friday was going to be her last day and she was going to go get a medical evaluation for herself after taking inmate Casey White for a psych evaluation at the local courthouse, totally routine right? It would have been had that not been their cover story to escape.
The strange thing about this is that protocol wasn’t exactly followed, usually when officers are transporting inmates they do so with more than one officer. But Vicki was the one in charge of arranging all transports in and out of the Lauderdale County jail and that day it would appear she arranged for just her to be in the vehicle with Casey White, who was serving a 75 year sentence for murder.

White murdered Connie Ridgeway in 2015, but was not actually caught until 2020, when he confessed to the crime. Ridgeway’s son had previously said that if White had not confessed to the crime, that the case would have remained unsolved.
While the Whites were on the loose, both his family and the ex-girlfriend of Casey White, was terrified that they would come after them next. Yesterday the chase ended in Evansville, Indiana, when a car wash owner spotted them at his establishment and alerted authorities, they took the police on a chase northbound on highway 41 before crashing, it appears that neither were hurt very badly in the initial rollover crash, but Vicki didn’t want to hang around to find out what her charges were.
Vicki White died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the crash.
If Vicki White had not shot herself, then she would be facing the charges of permitting or facillitating escape in the first degree, forgery, and identity theft. (It would appear she used aliases to buy the vehicle she was originally in.) The carwash owner said that he had first noticed an abandoned truck at his car wash 6 days ago.
Casey White will be transported back to Lauderdale County Jail where Sheriff Rick Singleton says he will be shackled 24/7. Of Vicki White, Sheriff Singleton says that obviously, she wasn’t the person that he thought she was. From model employee to helping an inmate escape? How the mighty fall.
