Last year, when Gabby Petito went missing we thought for sure that it was just a missed connection somewhere and that she would be found safe and alive, or maybe have an interesting story about some wildlife or maybe, just maybe she’d been kidnapped by aliens, but then we found out that she had been traveling with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, and that he had left the scene with the van, without her.
Aside from being extremely petty and a downright mean move, we all had a sinking feeling then that he wasn’t telling us the full story…
…And we were right
Brian Laundrie went missing just around a week and a half after Gabby was reported missing, we all thought that he had skipped the country and was hiding out somewhere, only successful because of the COVID protocols and lockdowns in place.
Gabby Petito Story Being Made Into A Lifetime Movie!
What we didn’t realize is that Brian Laundrie had made himself scarce by way of a bullet to the brain in a Florida Swamp, we only discovered that five weeks later after an extensive search of the area by Florida Law Enforcement and Brian Laundrie’s parents, who were, ironically, the one to discover their son’s remains.
All caught up now? Good
It would seem that Lifetime Entertainment as well as Thora Birch has decided that now is a good time to make a movie about the #vanlife blonde and explore the relationship that led her to her ultimate demise. This is part of Lifetime’s Stop Violence Against Women Initiative, but they are already getting social media backlash from the project.
“How about no?” says one on a Facebook post about the movie, “Don’t we have anything else to make movies about besides someone else’s tragedy?” also, “Poor Gabby hasn’t been dead a year yet.” but such is often the way with Hollywood and movies, besides that, so far the Petito family themselves have not said one word about the movie so right now it’s unclear as to whether or not they actually know about its production. (One would hope they would, since normally it is part of the due dilligence process… though there have been cases where it clearly hasn’t been… Tiger King, anyone?)
It seems that Gabby Petito will now have a shiny new movie to commemorate her passing by the time of the anniversary of her death. Some may think of it as a triumph… but we’ll see how well it’s actually received. Stay tuned!!!
