Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky was able to share a message with the Grammy crowd urging everyone in attendance and home to continue to support his country in their was with Russia in any way they can. Zelensky spoke English in the pre-taped clip and reminded everyone of what was still happening in Ukraine despite Will Smith being all anyone talked about over the last week.
He also spoke of freedom and what they’re fighting for asking that everyone continue to talk about the devastation from Russia and not to let it go quietly. His strongest message,
“Support us in any way you can. Any. But not silence. And then peace will come.”
Ukraine President Zelensky Shares His Message At The Grammys Saying To Support Them Anyway You Can
The crowd roared with approval when Zelensky was introduced and made the Grammys the number one supporter of Ukraine. Many believed that the Oscars, hosted just one week before, didn’t do enough to raise support for Ukraine and everything was completely overshadowed by Will Smith slapping Chris Rock which seems absolutely fair.
While celebrity drama continues to play out in the United States, over there the Ukrainian people are still being bombed relentlessly from the Russian army. Will these ‘sanctions’ placed on Russia kick in soon and help defund Vladimir Putin’s war because it feels as though we may be running out of time.
