In the story of Gabby Petito’s death, there has been a lot of speculation that Brian Laundrie, her boyfriend, had something to do with it. When the first press conference aired after her body was found, her family’s lawyer made sure to note that Brian Laundrie still has not surfaced.
He disappeared shortly after she was reported missing and then he took off with his backpack. He didn’t tell his parents where he was going, but they just assumed that he went hiking. They said that he was a person that could survive out in the wild and it seems that is his goal.

Richard Benson Stafford is the lawyer for Gabby’s family and during the press conference he talked to the camera, “Brian, we’re asking you to turn yourself in to the FBI.” Gabby’s family has been trying to reach Brian to find out what happened between the young couple.
The Teton County Coroner ruled her death as a homicide and when her body was found on September 21, the rumors about Brian’s involvement really started to escalate. Brian’s disappearance now makes him look even more guilty for the homicide, but no one has ruled out others. Brian was just the last person to see Gabby alive and things just keep adding up and not in his favor.
Gabby and Brian went out in their van to see the Western part of the country that they had yet to explore. They were both bloggers that loved to travel and always documented their “van life”. They were very active on social media and both had been living in Florida. Gabby’s family reported her missing on September 11 when Brian came back to Florida and she was not with him.
Brian then took off from his parent’s house on September 14. His parents just assumed that he was going hiking because he had his back pack and didn’t say much to them. They ended up reporting him missing on September 17 and he has been missing ever since. Gabby’s body was found on September 19 in the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. That was the last place that she was seen alive.
The rumors are swirling that Gabby and Brian were in an abusive relationship and these rumors have fueled the idea that Brian killed her. The FBI is still focused on finding Brian and they are still searching.
