He’s keeping his mouth shut. There are new reports that say Erika Jayne’s estranged husband Tom Girardi is pleading the fifth, as he will not testify at the Lion Air hearing.
As many fans and critics know by now, the ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star pulled the plug on her marriage to Tom Girardi in November of 2020. The former couple is being accused of using their divorce to embezzle money and hide assets from the victims of Lion Air Flight 610 in a lawsuit that was filed the following month. Tom Girardi Pleads The Fifth: Will Not Testify In Lion Air Hearing
According to Page Six, Girardi signed an affidavit on Aug. 6, that he would follow the advice of his counsel and invoke his “constitutional right to stay silent.”
His hearing is scheduled for mid-September. He and his reality star wife were first sued by Edelson PC, a class-action firm, on behalf of the victims in December for allegedly embezzling funds meant for the orphans and widows of the accident through their “sham” divorce.
During the most recent episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly hills, Erika was in tears when she recounted her husband’s scandal. She also said she couldn’t believe all of the rumors suggesting her split from Tom was a way to hide their money.
“Tom has resorted to embezzling the proceeds of settlements that should have been directed to his clients — including, as the basis for this Complaint, the widows and orphans who lost loved ones in the tragic crash of Lion Air Flight 610 — in order to continue funding his and Erika’s lavish Beverly Hills lifestyles,” documents in the case state.
So far Erika Jayne herself has not made any additional comments about the matter.
