Apparently the cast of Call the Midwife has some beef with Tom Cruise. Why? Because he keeps flying his helicopter in next door to their set at Studios and ruining their scenes. Why is he doing this?
Because he is filming Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2. If you’re acquainted with Call the Midwife at all, then you know that it’s a period drama set before there were such things as aircraft so having an aircraft ruin the scene pretty much means a reshoot.
Tom Cruise ruins scenes on Call the Midwife
Reshoots, in the end, mean money and some productions have that kind of money to spend on reshoots while others don’t. We can assume that Call the Midwife, being a pretty successful series, has enough in their budget for a healthy amount of reshoots, but make no mistake about it, they would not have access to a Mission Impossible type budget.
So that means that every time they have to reshoot, they waste another day’s production budget, potentially. Jenny Agutter said if the entire debacle, “Tom Cruise keeps on ruining our filming by landing his helicopter right outside where we’re shooting.
[I could go chastise him] in my habit! Imagine. “Excuse me Tom, but look we’re trying to film. I don’t know about you, but just get your helicopter out of here quickly!” The sheer amount of comedic gold that image alone would offer (SNL wanna parody this, perhaps?) would be amazing.
Sadly, we probably won’t get that but at least Jenny was nice enough to provide us with that mental image. Jenny Agutter plays Sister Julienne, a nun, on Call the Midwife, but perhaps she could do a guest spot on Mission Impossible 2 as the nun who helps Ethan Hunt find absolution for his sins, I mean, it could happen considering how often the protagonist probably has life or death situations happen.
It looks like for now they’re all at an impasse, maybe they’ll just find a way to incorporate the helicopters into the script, we’ll keep our eye on this one. Stay tuned!!!
