Leah, for her part, is certainly not the biggest fan of Tom. This is due to the fact that she was part of Scientology, something which Tom is credited as being one of the leading members of. And ever since she left the organisation, Leah has not held back on the disturbing things that she had encountered during her time there.
While Tom’s dealing with Scientology may not be getting as much coverage due to the fact that his movies are doing well, Leah wanted to let everybody know that they should not be fooled by Tom’s career.
In a post to her fans on Twitter, Leah said: “Tom Cruise knows exactly what goes on in Scientology. Don’t let the movie star charm fool you.” Although that may be the case, the very fact of the matter is that the box office numbers do not lie.
Top Gun: Maverick is forecasted to surpass the $1 billion mark in terms of revenue, which shows that Cruise is still as popular as ever. While his PR image may have suffered as a result of the scandal surrounding Scientology, he still has a hardcore fanbase that continues to watch his movies irrespective of what he does in his private life.
The response on social media was mixed. A certain subset of people understood that Tom was perfect, but ultimately, it was important to separate the good that he did from the bad.
Meanwhile, others completely resonated with what Leah had to say. One person wrote: “I understand but he also keeps a lot of people employed as well. I can separate the man from the work. I was also a staff member in LA.”
