For all the cheating hearts and rude awakenings that have happened on ‘Welcome to Plathville’ in the first two episodes, we can safely say that one thing we’re all glad about this season is the return of Ethan Plath’s smile and goofy ways.
That was missing for about a season and a half and we all missed it. Last season he and Olivia were having both marital problems and a miscarriage on top of that, so they were both going through things that were bad for them. After a little time apart and a lot of thinking, they moved down to Tampa and even though Ethan didn’t think he’d like it – and has not found a job yet – one thing is for certain, his smile is back.
Return of Goofy Ethan Plath
Now that he doesn’t have the thought of Kim and Barry Plath hanging over him and their expectations along with Olivia’s constant grief over not being the absolute best daughter-in-law ever in Kim’s eyes, they can focus on just being themselves and living up to their own expectations and not necessarily what Mama-in-Law wants.
The only thing that is annoying for Olivia is that Ethan has not found a job yet, but he says that he has worked since he was 15 years old, so he’s taking a little time off to just enjoy the money that he’s made and simply, as Olivia would put it “figure out who he is”.
Though, she has said that Ethan hasn’t really adjusted well to not working because he is usually the one who is quite the workaholic. It would be a stretch for someone like Ethan to simply rest on his laurels, and he did say that he didn’t want to do that forever, he just simply wanted to take some time off. Also, Ethan mentioned playing the stock market and being successful, so one wonders what on earth sort of stock he invested in?
Ethan didn’t really strike us as the type to be really business savvy but it looks like still waters may just run deep, there. There’s more to goofy Ethan than meets the eye, obviously. Either way, we’re glad he’s happy and hope he finds something to occupy his time soon. Stay tuned!!!
