Lydia Plath’s reaction to her sister Moriah Plath’s break-up with boyfriend Max Kallschmidt is interesting to say the least and we’ve already covered the fact that she could have thought that the breakup was mostly Moriah’s fault due to how she and Max fought over how Moriah dressed.

But what if there is another more sinister reason that she seemed so excited that Max and Moriah broke up? What if the reason she was seemingly so ecstatic over it was because she actually wanted Max for herself?

Is Lydia Plath conspiring against her sister?

It would make sense that she might develop a crush on Max, even after he dated Moriah, it’s happened before, heck, you might even say it was biblical, but it’s surprising because we thought that Lydia already had someone in mind.

A boy that she had been texting from their circle who had a lot of sisters and who we thought we saw last year at her graduation. His name was Phillip, and he was very devout and mild-mannered, definitely someone we thought was Lydia’s speed. But… that is the only time we’ve seen Phillip and it seems that their relationship has cooled considerably since then.

Now, Lydia claims that Max is like the older brother that she never had (because God knows she wanted a close relationship with Ethan and never got it) and that may be true but Max is not related to her and there are probably things that she can tell Max that she could never tell someone like Phillip, that tends to bring people closer and things can happen, sister or not, especially when feelings get involved.

The thing is, would Lydia potentially let this ruin her relationship with Moriah? We hope not, because we’ve watched them be through my supportive sisters to one another so far. Have we ever seen them truly fight? There’s a first for everything, and it seems like this might be it.

We’re not saying that Lydia planned to steal Max all along, but what we are saying is that Lydia seems a little opportunistic now that Moriah’s relationship has ended. She glossed over the fact that Moriah actually got hurt and went to wanting to sweep things under the rug first thing. Even Kim and Barry were understanding about the break-up, which is saying a whole lot.

What we’re saying is that if she and Max have been talking, then perhaps her feelings have progressed beyond that of just an honorary sibling and could be on their way to something more… but we don’t think Lydia realizes that yet. Stay tuned!!!
