It looks that way according to Lydia Plath‘s IG story. She posted a picture of a huge, we can only assume homemade, Thanksgiving spread on her IG story along with the caption “So much to be thankful for!” with a follow up thanking everyone who has participated in her cameo appearances.
This conflicts with what older brother Ethan Plath said a couple of seasons ago about the family, stating that when he was growing up they really didn’t celebrate holidays, it had something to do with their religion, or so we thought. But with Lydia posting this huge Thanksgiving spread one has to wonder, is this the first time they’ve celebrated Thanksgiving?
Are the Plaths celebrating holidays now?
It looks like this is the first time they’ve celebrated Thanksgiving that has been documented by social media. If they celebrated in years past, then so far the older kids really haven’t said anything. It looks like Ethan doesn’t really post much on his social media aside from when he works on cars or if he acknowledges wifey Olivia Plath.
He probably won’t go into much detail about his previous life with the Plaths, at least not until next season. It looks like Plathville was picked up for a fifth season but we’ll have to wait until 2023 to see it. Still, we know they have been filming because the kids’ social media says as much.
So we wonder, did Kim change her stance on the holidays or was it Barry that finally caved? Celebrating a conventional holiday such as Thanksgiving seems more like a Kim thing, seeing as she grew up in a way that was more “modern”, but we honestly don’t know that much about Barry’s family.
Also just because there is a picture of a Thanksgiving spread doesn’t actually mean the table belongs to the Plaths, Lydia could have had a Friendsgiving with her friends in Tallahassee but you would think if that were the case she would have posted more pictures. Unless she didn’t want to get the inevitable questions about why she wasn’t with her family, in which case posting a picture of the spread itself is safe enough.
Guess we’ll have to wait till 2023 to see if the Plaths actually celebrate holidays now. Stay tuned!!!
