TLC ‘My 600-Lb Life’ Spoilers reveal there are multiple lawsuits now pending for the production company that makes My 600-Lb Life on TLC, cast members have started talking about their contracts and what they are promised by being on the show. From payments to medical bills, some of the wording in the contracts does make you wonder what the company is thinking. We have a closer and more detailed look at what the star of My 600-Lb Life was promised.

TLC ‘My 600-Lb Life’ Spoilers: How Do They Get Paid?

When cast members sign up to be on the show, they are told that they will be paid. They do get what is called a talent fee of $1,500 for appearing on the show. Some of the cast members have to move to Houston for their surgery and they are given $2,500 for a moving allowance. The downside to this is that the cast members are not paid any of this money until the episode that they are on has aired on TLC. If they spend any money on moving, they have to pay for it all before they even get on television! This seems like a very backward way to operate.

TLC ‘My 600-Lb Life’ Spoilers: How Are Cast Members Compensated?

One former cast member, Tracey Matthews said, “We were told we would have to get a room one night while on the road from Ohio to Texas. I made reservations but we got nowhere near that hotel the first day. I lost the money I paid, then still had to pay to stay at a different hotel. It was crazy. By the time we got to Houston, we had $13 to our name. I had to figure out how to get groceries and everything else. Then our car broke down a few days after we got there. We didn’t get any help with that either. You can turn in receipts once your filming is done, for a very small amount, but until then you’re stuck.”

Another problem with being on the show is that the medical costs are not paid for. Three of the cast members that have filed lawsuits say that they were promised that their bills would be covered. Tracey has over $20,000 in medical bills that she says no one from Megalomedia has offered to help her with. She also said there are scenes that are scripted so that the show gets higher ratings. She said that the production team told her to make up family drama so the show could be less boring.

TLC ‘My 600-Lb Life’ Spoilers: With Lawsuits Pending, Megalomedia Has Been Very Quiet

One scene that you may recognize in every episode of the show is the naked shower scene. Tracey said that this is a requirement for being on the show. The production team told her that they would give her extra money if she did the scene. “They only show a few minutes of the shower scene on the show, but they filmed mine for over an hour. That was the absolute worst feeling in my life. I really wish they would stop making us do that. Who wants to be naked, taking a shower, and get filmed by a man you don’t know?”

With the lawsuits pending, Megalomedia has been very quiet. We hope that they will release a statement regarding these cast members soon. We will keep you updated on any new developments.
