TLC ’90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’ spoilers finds that when asked about her trip to the United States, specifically Tennessee, Varya Malina said that in comparison to Russia, everything was so different. Even the ‘small towns’ in America had a definite bigger feel to them.
She also said that in the US everyone is so nice and smiles at you (although that could just be a southern thing) and that in Russia, that’s just not a thing. She said in Russia that if you came up to someone random and asked how they were doing people would wonder if you had all your mental faculties about you! Wow, judgment much?

She was amazed by the shopping malls in the United States and how big they are. I don’t know how large a mall in Russia is, but I get the distinct feeling from Varya that everything is bigger in the US and not just in Texas. Or it could just be in the part of Russia where Varya is from.
She did briefly mention how different the government here is in the United States and that is interesting, but I think she honestly meant it on a more local level which is, again, interesting. You have to wonder what governmental processes she witnessed while in Tennessee, or maybe there was just some stuff recounted by Geoffrey Paschel that amazed her. Either way, she seemed to marvel at the differences between the two countries, in a totally good way.
She says that the transition from Russian culture to Tennesse Culture was strange for her because she’s not used to greeting people. It’s just not a thing in Russia, and she was really unsure of how to conduct herself. Although, honestly?
It doesn’t look like it would take much for Varya to adjust to that way of living. She’s a naturally gregarious kind of person, or at least I get that vibe from her. In fact I think Varya would adjust to American life just fine, she doesn’t seem too set in her cultural ways, even if the transition to greeting people with a smile is a bit of a big one for her.
Hey, not every place in the US does that, take New York for example, from what I hear they’re not all that big on the whole greeting with a smile thing. I don’t know though, Varya seems to have a thing for this ol’ southern charm. We’ll just have to see where she ends up when she does come to the US to visit. Stay tuned!!!
