‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers document that couples who aren’t solidified are open to split speculation. Two current pairings aren’t married or engaged and haven’t been involved for an extended period in Genoa City, Wisconsin.

Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) developed a friendship with Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) following the death of her husband and his police mentor, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso).

But Chance has an interest in the suddenly single Summer Newman (Allison Lanier), interest in the suddenly single Summer Newman (Allison Lanier), and her head is firmly turned toward him.

Meanwhile, Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) appeared to have reconciled with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil). They married as teenagers in the mid-2000s and seemed trending toward remarriage.

But Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) recently moved back to GC and rekindled feelings with Daniel during the holidays.

A lot of pressure was applied to Chance when he was most recently shot while on duty. Bending to it caused initial self-reflection.

Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) off-screen retirement as GC’s Chief of Police eventually led to Chance accepting that top job. Floyd’s character hoped to get off the street and away from the line of fire, but that is not what happened.

So, Chance listened to his mother, Nina Webster (Tricia Cast), and grandmother, Jill Abbott (Jess Walton), and left the force. However, Chance’s career transition is not the only part of his life that is in flux.

Viewers know that Khalil is on maternity leave. That real-life event enabled the character she plays to leave town recently.

Mattie Ashby (Lexie Stevenson) is at a college where fires were said to have gotten out of control. She is safe, but one of her professors, who is also a mentor, died.

That led Lily to tell Daniel she would be with Mattie, leaving him open to Heather’s renewed push.

What should Sharon do if she continues to see evidence of Summer making a play for Chance?

A direct conversation between the ladies will likely escalate the heat rather than create a pause. Chance’s recent concert date with Summer implies more involvement rather than a platonic friendship.

Lily’s indefinite absence gives Daniel time to make a comparison. Does he want to revisit a recently lost love he feels responsible for causing or remain dedicated to Lily?

The new year projects one or two changes, with some GC residents soon left out in the cold Wisconsin winter on Y&R.
