‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Daytime Emmy winner Mishel Morgan is set for an exciting Y&R return as Amanda Sinclair.
‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Morgan First Played Hilary Curtis On The Soap
Amanda was last in Genoa City in February 2024 when she made a brief return to tell Devon Winters (Bryton James) that Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) wanted to add her last name to their company, Chancellor-Winters.

The actress is back on set taping this week. Her story, which is described as a “guest arc,” will air later this spring.
Morgan first appeared on the soap in 2013 as Hilary Curtis, whom many viewers consider “the love of Devon’s life.” Sadly, Hilary was tragically killed in a car crash in 2018.
About a year later, Morgan returned to the canvas—this time, as Hilary’s unknown twin sister, Amanda.
In 2022, Morgan made daytime history by becoming the first African American actress to win the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress, which she earned for her role as Amanda.
“It was everything to me,”
Morgan told Soap Opera Digest in 2023 about her Emmy win.
“It felt like the culmination of my entire journey: choosing to be an actor and going on this incredible ride to come back.”
She continued,
“I just feel like I listened to the signs in my life and was able to do this moment that was so perfect.”
In October of 2022, after Morgan won her Emmy, she opted to step away from the soap to pursue other avenues and try her hand at fresh roles.
‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Amanda Had A Complicated Family History
The character, Amanda, was a fierce and fiery paralegal. During her initial run on Y&R, a significant part of Amanda’s story centered on her search for her mother.
Like many families on soaps, Amanda’s family history was complicated. At first, Amanda wasn’t aware that she was Hilary’s twin, but after donating blood, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) realized she had the same rare blood type as Hilary.
Amanda reluctantly had a DNA test, which revealed that they were twins. She decided to find out why her mother, Rose Turner, had chosen Hilary over her. However, it turned out that Rose wasn’t Amanda’s mother after all.

She finally tracked down her biological mom, Naya Benedict. From there, she discovered the tale of her birth and why she and her twin sister were separated.
During an interview with Soap Opera Digest in 2023, Morgan explained why she agreed to come back to the soap after leaving to explore other opportunities, “There had been a regime change behind the scenes,” Morgan recalled.
“It meant so much to me to get the call saying, ‘I feel like the show made a mistake letting you go so easily, and I really want to correct that,”
She said.
“When they were like, ‘And we’re going to let you play a new character.’ “That kind of wiped everything away from me because they knew part of the reason I wanted to leave was because I felt the itch to play new characters.”
Amanda has the potential to interact with several characters on Y&R. It will be fun to see her again!
