‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers confirm that Linden Ashby, who played the complex and fascinating role of villain Cameron Kirsten, has thought of an idea that would allow him to return to Genoa City and see Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) again.
‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Cameron Is A Part Of Sharon’s Mind
Ashby recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest about ending his latest stint with the soap. When asked if he thought of himself as lucky to have been brought back, he responded, “Not a lot of people get that; as he laughed and made an interesting suggestion, “And now I’ll be, you know, his brother.
Could that happen? Ashby teased, “We’ll see.” As Cameron, Ashby has been able to haunt Sharon as a ghost, which is a hallucination that resulted from Sharon ingesting the drug PCP.
Cameron has made several appearances in Sharon’s mind. He’s been her cheerleader, her partner in crime, and someone who shockingly offers Sharon sound advice.
Ashby spoke about the way he felt about Cameron’s purpose for Sharon. His take is that he’s the voice inside her head.
“There was one moment in one of the episodes that I remember where we were in the hotel room and Cameron is like, ‘This has got to be done, and if you need to, just put it on autopilot. I’ll take care of it,”
Ashby recalls.
He continued,
“And that’s a whole other level of, like, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. You don’t need to be around for what I’m about to do.”
That was the stuff that Ashby appreciated so much about Cameron’s relationship with Sharon. Cameron does the dirty work, but he’s only an extension of Sharon’s mind.
Cameron always tells it like it is. He may have been the only one in Sharon’s life who was unabashedly honest with her.
‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Cameron Encouraged Sharon To Fight For Her Life
When Sharon believed she killed Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom), Cameron coerced Sharon to frame Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei) for the murder.
Sharon needed Cameron in that moment because she needed his strength and grit to withstand the sordid situation.
Cameron encouraged Sharon to fight for her life when stuck in the sewer and coached her throughout the ordeal.
When they said goodbye, it was bittersweet. It may be a testament to Sharon’s dark side that she summoned her former tormenter.
There is also something to be said for Sharon Case and Ashby’s on-screen chemistry, but fans would never want to see Sharon with Cameron.
However, they may embrace Sharon with Cameron’s twin brother. While most viewers tend to want Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon together, there are those who couldn’t help but enjoy Sharon and Cameron’s compelling relationship. In the world of soaps, it’s always possible to create a sudden twin brother.
When asked if he’d ever want to come back under the right circumstances, Ashby replied,
“Oh, you never say never, do you? If it was the right part and it made sense and it was going to be fun, and my schedule said, ‘Yeah, this is a good thing to do,’ sure, I had a great time!”
