‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers suggest that since Roger Howarth is coming to Y&R, we have to wonder if he’s playing an old character or a new one.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Cane’s Evil Twin Brother Was Killed By Colin
Trevor St. John took over for Howarth as Todd Manning on One Life To Live. The irony isn’t lost on us that Howarth may be stepping into the role that St. John vacated.

However, we have another theory. Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) corporate takeover storyline was a vast mystery to fans prior to Flynn’s first appearance on the soap.
Yet, we suspected Flynn was Cane posing as the purely fictitious Aristotle Dumas. The characters involved were aware that Dumas was a billionaire, and his persona was a facade.
Yesterday, we learned that Howarth would arrive in Genoa City in the fall in a mystery role. Since the action appears to be surrounding Cane right now, we have to wonder if Howarth will play Cane’s evil twin brother, Caleb Atkinson.
The skilled and talented actor who transformed serial killer, Franco Baldwin, into a sympathetic character on General Hospital, will no doubt bring his A-Game to Y&R.

He adds nuance and dimension to villainous characters like Todd Manning and Franco, and he made us love them. Y&R would be wise to capitalize on Howarth’s significant capabilities.
Howarth could play Caleb like a violin, which we would love to see. It’s been roughly 15 years since Caleb was killed accidentally by his father, the late Colin Atkinson (Tristian Rogers).
Cane ditched his plans to take over all the powerful and elite family companies in Genoa City. However, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is determined to change Cane’s mind.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Phyllis Isn’t Going Down Without A Fight
We all know that Phyllis isn’t going down without a fight. If his brother arrives in town, we could see the two of them plotting together to fulfill Cane’s original plans.
Phyllis feels shortchanged and left out in the cold since she believed in Cane’s takeover plans and was fully dedicated to the cause.

Now, Cane suddenly wants to focus on repairing his relationship with his children. If Caleb returns, she may have someone to help her with a new scheme.
Of course, the one caveat is that Howarth and Caleb, who Daniel Goddard originally played, look nothing alike. Then again, neither do Flynn and Goddard.
However, even before Howarth made the official announcement on Instagram, several fans had suggested that Howarth should play the new Tucker McCall.
We all know that often, in the soap world, when a proven actor comes to a show to play a “mystery role,” it means that they are playing an established character.
We could definitely see Howarth playing the scrupulous mogul. Howarth would make for a fascinating and multi-layered Tucker. Of course, it’s also possible that Howarth will play someone new.
Recently, Michelle Stafford took to social media to give her ringing endorsement to her former GH buddies, Roger Howarth and Tamara Braun, expressing her delight that they were headed to Y&R.
“Our show just got a little more bad*ss!”
She gushed.
“Just so you know, more surprises to come!”
