‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) assistant, Carter (Vincent Stalba), may have killed Damain Kane (Jermaine Rivers) to eliminate the competition for Lily Winter’s (Christel Khalil) heart.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: We Highly Doubt Cane Murdered Damain
In the July 14th episode of Y&R, Damain was murdered. First, he was poisoned. Then, the poor guy was killed by a dagger from Cane’s knife collection, which was tossed into his back.

We don’t think Cane was the one who murdered Damian. He seemed to be trying to be a gentleman and step aside so that Damian and Lily could be together.
Cane and Damian were sharing a bottle of scotch when Damian started to feel woozy. We know he was poisoned by whatever it was they were drinking.
Prior to the lethal incident, Cane warned Damain not to hurt Lily the way he did. That said, he seemed to be doing right by Lily, as he agreed not to mention his feelings about her again once he found out they had become a couple.
That said, there is something undeniably creepy about Carter. He’s obviously extremely loyal to his boss and may have decided to kill Damain to clear a path so that Cane can pursue Lily.
Carter will make a mess for Cane, considering that he’s inevitably going to be accused of murder. Spoilers also indicate that Lily shares incriminating information against Cane, which will prompt Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) to suspect that Cane is guilty.

However, Carter may end up confessing to the crime if it looks like Cane will take the fall for his evil actions. Or he could frame someone else to protect himself and take the heat off Cane. Damain was a romantic rival for Lily’s affections.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Carter Appears To Be “A Bit Too Loyal” To His Boss
This creep probably decided to take matters into his own hands. While we know Cane’s ambition is to take over every prominent family company in Genoa City, we highly doubt he killed Damian.
It wouldn’t make much sense since Cane is set to be a central character on the soap. Plus, he’s a new face. The writers don’t want him to be a cold-blooded murderer. They want him to have redeeming qualities so that he’ll likely reunite with Lily in the future.

Our money is on Carter being the killer. Even the actor who plays Carter describes his character as “loyal to his boss, cold, menacing, robotic, very polished, and professional.”
Obviously, Carter had sinister intentions toward Damain once it was clear that he was a viable love interest for Lily.
We also have to wonder if Carter was watching Lily and Damain’s relationship turn intimate when they were in the train car.
He could have been watching on the hidden cameras and seen the two of them together. Carter also appears to be the stereotypical nerd. We know certain types of people sometimes become criminals, as their whole life, they are deemed as “outcasts.”
Poor Cane is about to endure numerous accusations hurled at him by all his party guests. However, we know he didn’t commit the crime.
