‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers document that realizing someone trusted lied since childhood is devastating. Add to that, Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk) convinced her niece to try and kill her parents.
Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) is a poor soul. She was stolen at birth by her aunt, who rationalized that crime. Jordan did so because she blamed Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) for her sister, Eve Howard’s (Margaret Mason) death.
The problem Jordan and Eve suffered from was untreated mental illness. Now, Claire’s parents intend to help her recover from the psychological damage Jordan imposed on her and them.
‘Young And The Restless’ Spoilers – Envy Registry Proven Wrong
As viewers saw, Claire kept a scrapbook on the Newman family. But it was not one filled with fond memories of special events, holidays and family moments.
Instead, the envy registry was something Jordan encouraged. She had one of her own that was used as part of a staged scene when drawing the authorities in Genoa City, Wisconsin.
But the reality of Claire‘s parents and knowing that they never abandoned her is too much to handle. Erin’s character can’t process all that’s happened, and she doesn’t want to open herself up to assumed further pain.

Jordan created the big lie by presenting her niece with a twisted version of reality. It is fair to assert that this storyline can be challenged.
Why didn’t Claire push for answers outside of what Jordan presented through the years?
Along with the above, one can wonder how Jordan maintained such tight control over Claire in her late teens. Erin’s character became an adult in recent years but still held to her aunt’s view of reality. Viewers need more information so they can accept a more detailed backstory.
‘Young And The Restless’ Spoilers – Claire Grace Needs To Become Eve Nicole
Eventually, Claire needs to shed who Jordan made her. That may mean discarding the invented name Zenk’s character presumably created.
Eve Nicole honors the first names of Cole’s and Victoria’s mothers, respectively. The history of Claire’s parents and the maternal side of her family must be explored.
However, Victoria and Cole must be ready for heavy resistance. Claire believes she is unworthy of love and no longer wants to hurt them. She must first learn to trust herself and can do so after accepting her parent’s help. That should happen in time on Y&R.
