‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that though not all fans are as upbeat as Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd), he attributes his seamless job move to Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) encouragement!
Leaving the GCPD was a surprising decision, especially considering that there weren’t any other active police figures in Genoa City.
A central character such as Chance to solve puzzles and step in during emergencies would be nice, but day players could cover the gap in the short term. Chance’s move might have made more sense if he had chosen a more exciting professional route.
This is untrue, though. He seldom appears at the Chancellor-Winters office, and when he does, it’s rarely for a major event. Chance seemed redundant to add to an already crowded field of bland corporate leaders.
‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) Returns To The Police Department After Office Space Failure?
It’s generally considered as a mistake, even if Chance thinks he made a good career move. The writers still have the opportunity to change course and correct this error of judgment.
Anything like what happened to him while he was a law enforcement officer could make Chance reevaluate his current course of action. His character would be more in keeping with his return to the GCPD, whether as detective or as police chief, adding much-needed excitement to his plot.
With Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) still dealing with the stress of Chance’s prior on-duty injuries, such a decision might cause problems. Chance and Summer’s relationship would surely suffer if he decided to go back to law enforcement; if she thought he was acting recklessly, there could be trouble.
In the end, Chance merits a more satisfying profession than his present corporate position. Chance might come to the realization that he doesn’t want to be involved in the crossfire of corporate politics as tensions at Chancellor-Winters are rising as a result of the rivalry between Devon Hamilton and Billy.
