‘The Talk’ only welcomed its new host, this week, but already viewers of the daytime chat show are referring to ex-NBC personality, Natalie Morales as “charismatic” “a breath of fresh air” and “a show saver.”
Many more The Talk fans believe there’s only one sure fire way to get viewership back- fire Sheryl Underwood.
Some critics of the 57 year old, who has been with The Talk since season 2, predict she will soon become jealous of her new co-host and “find ways” to create discord amongst the on-screen team now consisting of Sheryl, Natalie, Amanda Kloots, Jerry O’Connell and Akbar Gbajabiamila.
‘The Talk’: Natalie Morales May Just Save the Embattled Talk Show But Fans Want Sheryl Underwood Out!
After the on screen blow out between Sheryl and former cohost , Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl managed to keep her hosting seat while Sharon was fired from her 11 year tenure. Many fans, however, were team Sharon and blame Sheryl for the firing.
Another reason Sheryl has seen fans turn against her is the rumored tensions between she and another former host, Carrie Ann Inaba. Carrie Ann had taken a leave of absence for health reasons, but then decided to concentrate on her judging role on Dancing with the Stars, leaving The Talk in her wake.
Sheryl was reportedly “thrilled Carrie Ann is gone for now,” with a source telling The Sun that Sheryl criticized Carrie Ann in the role of moderator and felt she did a much better job herself.
With the revolving door of hosts saying goodbye capped by pregnant Elaine Welteroth’s departure, Sheryl felt she’d be able to assemble a “dream team of co-hosts to give The View a run for their money, instead of the slow walk The Talk has been doing.”
It didn’t quite go as Shery hoped. She and (before her departure) Elaine were apparently furious when they found out Jerry was in negotiations to take a permanent co-host position. Sheryl allegedly didn’t like the idea of having permanent male co-host, saying it sent out a message that “women cannot behave themselves and be friends.”
Eventually the show settled into a groove of two male and two female hosts, but then Sheryl was said to have been “blindsided” by Natalie’s addition.
Sources told The Sun that Sheryl, “felt she should have been consulted and kept in the loop out of respect for her seniority with the show.”
The insider continued to allege: “There is so much hoopla surrounding Natalie and so much publicity and airtime devoted to her joining the show.”
As well, “Amanda has Dancing With the Stars and is getting lots of attention so that makes Sheryl feel like she’s not getting the eyeballs that she wants. Sheryl feels she isn’t getting credit for being the glue that holds the show together.”
To rub salt in the wound, Natalie, being a much bigger name and coming in with a huge skill set, was made show moderator during her premiere week.
It will be interesting to see how The Talk moves in the ratings, and exactly what Sheryl may do next to stay on top (…ish)
