‘The Talk’ will be losing one more voice when Elaine Welteroth follows ex-host Sharon Osbourne and Carrie Ann Inaba out the seemingly revolving door.

New York Times bestselling author and “Project Runway” host, Welteroth only lasted one season on the chat show as a full-time panelist which she began  in January 2021, at the same time as Amanda Kloots. Welteroth had guest-hosted multiple times in the late fall before her full-time tenure became official, with herself  and Kloots replacing the recently departed Marie Osmond and Eve.

With Osbourne’s abrupt and controversial exit from the show in March this year and Inaba announcing less than two weeks ago that she would not return, Sheryl Underwood is the only remaining star to have hosted the show for a full year.

Kloots is (so far) staying on board and the first ever full-time male host, Jerry O’Connell will remain filling the third chair.

Welteroth said in a statement regarding her time on the show, “It is an absolute honor for anyone, but especially a young Black woman, to occupy space on-air where our perspectives are largely underrepresented. It was gratifying to be able to show up as my authentic self in front of a live national audience every day in a world as divided as ours and to stay true to myself and what I stand for.”

Of her tenure as co-host coming to an end, Welteroth said, “I came to ‘The Talk’ to break out of my own echo chamber and to join a diverse cast in helping to bridge some of the divides in our world through conversation and empathy. I’m proud of how I represented myself and my community.”

She further explained that she will miss working alongside her “talented co-hosts and crew” and sent out a thank you to the loyal audiences of the embattled show. “But as I always say: when the music changes, so must your dance!” Welteroth continued in her statement. “I’m excited to continue these necessary conversations in my work and to share my upcoming creative projects soon.”

Executive producers of The Talk wished Welteroth well and shared they were “grateful for her passion, enthusiasm, and insight she brought to the show daily. Her openness and meaningful conversations were attributes we admired and always appreciated.”

It is said the hunt is on for a suitable Inaba/Welterroth replacement.
