‘The Talk’ popular co-host Carrie Ann Inaba has decided to not return to the chat show, making her leave of absence a complete departure.
The four-time Emmy nominee announced her leave of absence on April 26 after the onscreen blow up and subsequent tension between Sharon Osbourne and the other hosts, namely Sheryl Underwood. Inaba’s reason for taking her leave was to focus on her health and well-being. Inaba has several auto-immune conditions and flare ups began again during the discord on the show.
‘The Talk’ Co-Host Carrie Ann Inaba Will Not Return…Who Will Replace Her?
According to reports in Page Six, producers of The Talk are looking to replace Inaba, who was popular with viewers, fellow cast and the crew of the chat show, with a male co-host.
Actor Jerry O’Connell took the seat vacated by Mrs. O, becoming the first full time male cast member. So…who might join him?
Like Jeopardy! and Bachelor In Paradise, it seemed the show did quite an audition phase with guest hosts joining the regular cast- Underwood, Amanda Kloots, Elaine Welteroth and now O’Connell.
Retired NFL star Akbar Gbaja-Biamila was given some love from The Talk’s social media pages with a Throwback Thursday shout out to his time as guest co-host. ‘To a co-host with the mostest! We love you!’ The Talk’s official Twitter page wrote.
Another retired NFL star, Victor Cruz, also did well during his time on the show and has been ‘picking up shifts” on E!’s Daily Pop. Former E! News co-anchor Terrence J has guested on The Talk and could be in ‘replacement running’ along with Jane the Virgin alum Justin Baldoni, comedian Bill Bellamy, CBS This Morning correspondent David Begnaud, Sugar Ray front man Mark McGrath, preacher DeVon Franklin, Shark Tank investor Daymond John, retired NBA star Jalen Rose, American Idol mentor Bobby Bones, and former SNL star Jay Pharoah.
Despite dealing with Sjorgren’s syndrome, lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, Inaba will be returning as a judge on Dancing with the Stars when its 30th season premiers next month. This announcement was reportedly not “taken well” by The Talk producers
So far, there’s no way of knowing who will take over Inaba’s chair on The Talk. We only know they have an uphill battle as the show’s soon to be completed (August 25th) season 11 has reached an all time ratings low.
The Talk airs weekdays on CBS.
