The Royal family were absolutely outraged when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided that they would be renouncing their duties and exiting their roles. That is according to Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams.

British Royal Family News: The Royals Were ‘Unhappy’ At Harry And Meghan’s Departure

In an interview with the Royally Us podcast, he revealed that they did not take things very well. He said: “We know they’re unhappy. I totally accept that. I’d like to see a more balanced approach. The language used [and] to appear to lecture the queen … that sort of statement is very unhelpful, but what it showed is how angry they are.”

Nevertheless, that did not bother Harry and Meghan at all. They had been dead-set on leaving the Royals for a while, and so when the opportunity arose, they had no hesitation in taking that action. This led to the reports of a feud between William and Harry as well as a feud between Kate Middleton and Meghan.

A source close to the Royals said how they felt it was worth it:  “Harry and Meghan finally feel free. They have so much to look forward to. Harry and Meghan have achieved success beyond their wildest dreams in the US and are settled and much more content living in Montecito, doing their own thing.

“They are determined to raise their children in a normal, stable environment, out of the spotlight, which would’ve [been] impossible if they’d remained royals.” Although they would be losing their privileges, they had a backup plan in place to pursue other avenues with a focus on the US. The source added: “Obviously, they’ll lose royal patronages, but understand that they can’t have it both ways.

“And from their point of view, it’s not the end of the world. They’ve already made their mark in the US and will continue being philanthropists, working with charities that are close to their heart – veterans, mental health, homelessness, Black Lives Matter and more.” Families do bicker from time to time, but there is still plenty of time for the Royals to make things right. The illness of Prince Philip and his hospitalisation may be a good starting point on which the family could find some common ground.
