If Ridge Forrester thought Steffy was simply going to smile politely and hand Brooke her co-CEO chair, Thursday’s Bold and the Beautiful episode gave him a brutal reality check. Steffy did not just push back against the idea — she completely dismantled it. And honestly, she had every reason to.
The biggest issue with Brooke’s plan is that everyone keeps acting like Ridge can simply snap his fingers and remove Steffy from power overnight. That is not how Forrester Creations actually works, and the May 14 episode of B&B finally addressed that reality in a much-needed way.
Steffy Finally Said What Needed To Be Said
During the confrontation at Forrester, Steffy reminded Ridge that she is not sitting in that office because her father handed her a favor. She earned that position. She helped save the company from Bill Spencer, modernized the business, built relationships with buyers and influencers, and helped keep Forrester competitive in an industry that constantly changes. Ridge himself even admitted he could not run the company without her.
That is why Steffy’s outrage felt completely justified. Ridge kept trying to soften the blow by talking about Brooke’s legacy and comparing the situation to Eric and Stephanie, but Steffy immediately shut that down. Brooke is already one of the faces of the company. She already has influence and visibility at Forrester. She does not need Steffy’s exact title in order to matter there.
Steffy also made another strong point that Ridge could not really argue with: Brooke wanting a bigger role at the company should not automatically mean Steffy loses hers.
Ridge Is Acting Like This Is Entirely His Decision
Another frustrating part of the episode was watching Ridge behave as though he alone has the authority to make this happen. He approached Steffy almost like he was informing her of a transition instead of discussing something that directly affects her position and ownership stake in the company.
That is where the storyline starts falling apart logically.
Several fans have already pointed out that Steffy is not just an executive. She is one of the company’s largest shareholders. Ridge does not simply outrank her in a way that allows him to remove her because Brooke wants the office. In reality, Steffy would likely have to agree to step down voluntarily — and after Thursday’s confrontation, that clearly is not happening.
What made Steffy’s reaction even more reasonable is that she actually offered compromises. She said Brooke deserved recognition and could have another major role or title within the company. She just refused to hand over her own position.
That is not selfish. If anything, it was probably the most rational response anyone had during the entire episode.
Steffy Has Every Right To Feel Betrayed
Underneath all the business drama, the real emotional core of this storyline is much deeper. Steffy finally admitted what this situation truly feels like to her: once again, Ridge is choosing Brooke over his own daughter.
Steffy was not reacting like someone terrified of losing status. She was reacting like someone who has spent years feeling like Brooke always comes first in Ridge’s life. The episode made it painfully clear those wounds never fully healed. When Steffy begged Ridge to choose his daughter “for once,” it was not really about co-CEO titles anymore. It was about years of accumulated hurt.
And honestly, Ridge did not really have a defense for it.
Brooke And Ridge May Be Underestimating Steffy
Meanwhile, Brooke already seems convinced this transition is going to happen, but she and Ridge may be seriously underestimating Steffy. If Steffy decides to fight this technically, professionally, and emotionally, things could get ugly very fast.
Because the reality is Ridge may not have nearly as much power here as Brooke assumes he does.
And if Steffy finally decides she is done quietly accepting being pushed aside for Brooke, this storyline could explode into one of the nastiest Forrester family wars the show has had in years.
