JoJo Fletcher has denied rumours that she was offered the chance to host The Bachelorette following the departure of Chris Harrison.
‘The Bachelorette’: JoJo Fletcher Denies Rumours She Was Approached To Take Over Chris Harrison
Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe would go on to take the role, which put an end to the speculation that JoJo was in the running. As for JoJo, there was never really a conversation over this. During an interview with Us Weekly, she said: “No, I never even heard about it. I think Kaitlyn and Tayshia are freaking going to be so awesome. I’m so excited for them.”
And the duo have already made an impression on the show. There were initial reservations about whether they could follow in the footsteps of Chris. This was because of reports that they were finding the filming scheduling very intense, with scenes often taking longer compared to how Chris would do them.
But now that they have settled into their groove, they were praised for supporting Katie Thurston during her journey on the show. That has filled JoJo with huge anticipation. She added: “Tayshia actually texted me before she went in. She was like, ‘Can I pick your brain?’ Because it’s a weird thing taking over the host role on a show like that…So it’s a lot of pressure, [but] I’m excited for them.”
It was a surprise, however, that the producers did not give Jojo the gig for several reasons. Firstly, she has previous hosting experience as signified by her presenting role on CBS’ Cash Pad. While that is a property development show, it does show that she possesses the necessary credentials of holding her own on a major TV network.
Secondly, she understands the pressures of being a lead which would have offered any potential contestants the opportunity to get some sage advice. And unlike Tayshia and Kristowe, Jojo would have been a more viable option as a permanent replacement. And yet, it seems Jojo is being kept out of the picture as she confirmed she has not sat down with Katie yet.
She continued: “I’ve never spoken to Katie. I’m so sad about that. I feel like as all the newcomers come in, I keep getting further behind and not able to connect with them as easily, but I’m super excited for her season.”
