Survivor Contestant Sunday Burquest Passes Away After Battle With Cancer
Last June, Sunday announced she had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. She revealed that it had spread to her lymph nodes and ovaries. Former cast mates immediately rallied around the vivacious woman, showering her with support.
Former Survivor contestant Rob Cesternino hosted Sunday on his podcast, aptly named Rob Has a Podcast. It was during their chat the religious woman revealed that the new cancer diagnosis was a little less difficult to accept because of all the positive messages she had received from friends, family and fans after making the news public.
One of Sunday’s Survivor competitors Zeke Smith known for his kindness, even in the face of being outed as transgender during a tribal council, became an integral part in fund raising efforts for Sunday and the whole Burquest family.
Upon Sunday’s passing, Zeke tweeted, “You left an indelible legacy and will be my darling forever.”
Kennedy Burquest, Sunday’s daughter made the sad announcement on Sunday, April 18 on Instagram, posting a photo of herself as a child with her late mother and wrote (in part) “Thank you for fighting as hard as you did for as long as you did. Thank you for being a best friend, a role model, a sister, and my mother all in one.”
Sunday is survived by her husband, four children and two daughters-in-law.
