The reason Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have chosen to let their kids have royal titles is understandable, given that they gave up their own royal background.

Harry And Meghan Don’t Want To ‘Deny Their Children Their Birthright,’ Says Dr Tessa Dunlop

That is according to historian Dr Tessa Dunlop. It was announced that the couple has started referring to their children, Archie and Lilibet, as prince and princess. This change in title occurred when King Charles III became the monarch, but for the past six months, their titles on the Buckingham Palace website have remained as “master” and “miss.”

As per the announcement made by the spokesperson for the Sussexes during the christening news of Lilibet, referred to as a princess for the first time, the Palace has confirmed that the site’s line of succession list will be updated to include the change.

It is known that Harry and Meghan want to ensure that their children have the opportunity to choose for themselves whether or not to use their titles in the future, without depriving them of their inheritance.

Dunlop believes that the value of titles within the British monarchy remains invaluable, despite Harry’s criticisms and negative comments towards his family and the institution. In her comments, she said: “Harry and Meghan have justified their decision on the basis that they’re keen not to deny their children their birthright.

“If the couple had really wanted to cut free of The Firm they would have shed their own Duke and Duchess privilege. Not a chance.” Tessa thinks that it was improbable for Charles to deny his grandchildren the titles, despite the fact that some people may not be happy about the news.

This is understandable since that action would have been seen as punishing his grandchildren for the actions of the Sussexes. With that being said, it may go some way to healing the current rift.
