As if the fourth wave of the pandemic isn’t a bummer to the summer enough, it has now caused the cancellation of the much anticipated Schitt’s Creek “Farewell Tour”.

Powerhouse father-son duo, Eugene Levy and Dan Levy announced the disappointing news via Twitter on Friday, their statement saying the postponed event has officially been scrapped all together due to pandemic-related complications.

“When we postponed the Schitt’s Creek: The Farewell tour, we had every hope and intention of traveling to see you later this year,” the Levy’s Twitter statement read. “However, despite our best efforts to reschedule while keeping your health and safety at the forefront, we’ve found that state and local mandates vary too widely to do so in the near future.”

Anyone who has pre-purchased tickets for the live show that was to showcase behind-the-scenes clips and stories from the cast will be refunded, but that hardly eases the blow.

After six critically acclaimed successful seasons, the show swept the 2020 Emmys, picking up awards in each of the comedy acting categories. The fan base grew exponentially when the Canadian show dropped on Netflix and those fans were elated to have the chance to meet, greet and mingle with the stars of their favorite comedy.

Joining  the talented Levys, Eugene (Johnny) and Dan (David) were Catherine O’Hara (Moira) and, rounding out the Rose family, Annie Murphy (Alexis) Emily Hampshire (Rosebud Motel manager Stevie Budd) and Noah Reid (David’s husband, Patrick Brewer) were also scheduled to appear.

Eighteen nights were announced across the US including stops at The Borgata in Atlantic City, The Orpheum in Los Angeles and The Chicago Theater in Chicago.

All is not lost, though. The Levy men will be publishing a book about the series this fall. The book, Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: The Story of Schitt’s Creek is said to “capture the essence and alchemy of all six seasons” and celebrate “the town, the characters, and the state of mind that is Schitt’s Creek.”

Did we mention Eugene and Dan are two very talented men?

Look for the book when it is released on October 26.
