Schitt’s Creek star Emily Hampshire, who played Stevie Budd on the hit Canadian show says she is “sure” the cast of the hit comedy series will reunite. But it won’t necessarily be for a Schitt’s Creek related project. And it doesn’t look like it will happen anytime soon.
Hampshire is currently starring in and promoting Chapelwaite, a horror series based on the short story “Jerusalem’s Lot” by ghoulish writer Stephen King. Though this is a huge departure from Schitt’s Creek and her deadpan motel manager character, Hampshire hasn’t managed to take Stevie’s “plaids out of the closet just yet”.
Schitt’s Creek star Emily Hampshire is certain the cast will reunite.
“They’re still there. There’s definitely… We are going to work together again,” Hampshire insists.
She went on to add that there are no plans to redo or add to Schitt’s Creek, but she is adamant the cast will reunite.
“I’m sure because I know and love these people that we’re going to do something, get together and do some movie or something.”
It has been two years since creators Eugene Levy and son Dan Levy teamed-up with Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy and the rest of the actors who made up the eccentric yet lovable citizens of Schitt’s Creek.
Hampshire previously spoke about why she believes the Emmy-winning comedy series struck such a chord with audiences the world over after it was moved to streaming platform, Netflix.
“It was this kind comedy. This show has this huge heart, that doesn’t sacrifice its humor at all for it. It’s really funny, but also, you leave it feeling like you love these characters, and they love each other, and they’re good to each other.”
She also claimed that “From the beginning, Dan had a mandate that there will be no homophobia in Schitt’s Creek, and the town will never be the butt of the joke, or the townspeople. That created this world of Schitt’s Creek [being] such a safe space that I think people want to go live in for half an hour.”
Hampshire also once joked that while there was no real bump to her bank balance thanks to her role as Stevie: “We shot in Canada, we made Canadian dollars” it has completely changed her life. This is evident in her new role opposite Oscar winner- Adrien Brody in Chapelwaite.
Chapelwaite premiers August 22 on EPIX
