Have you ever wondered what “Bloody Mary’s hotter cousin” tastes like? Ryan Reynolds believes he has the answer.
Inspired by the famous McRib sandwich which is BACK for its 40th anniversary at U.S. McDonald’s locations, the beloved Canadian actor has created the Gin Riblet cocktail. Reynolds has also made an instructional video to show fans of him, or his gin, or the McRib…or all three, exactly how to get that tantalizing McRib flavor…apparently.
Ryan Reynolds Has Created a McRib-Inspired Aviation Gin Cocktail…Would You Try It?
The “glass-shaped cocktail” based on America’s favorite “rib-shaped sandwich” is made by combining 4 ounces of tomato juice, a squeeze of lemon, 1 and a half ounces of Aviation American Gin and, of course, the secret sauce…which actually is sauce. Complete your cocktail with half-an-ounce of tangy barbecue sauce, garnish with a cocktail onion and baby pickle, and there you have it- the Gin Riblet.
If your stomach is flipping at the mere thought, you are not alone. However, Reynolds attests, “Not sure gin and barbecue sauce go together? Well, let me Mc-prove it.”
Hey, if Ryan is coming to my Mc-kitchen to serve me, I’ll mc-drink anything!
The 40th anniversary of the McRib’s return is being celebrated by McDonald’s in a big way, with commemorative NFTs and early product releases. Reynold’s Gin Riblet was NOT on the Golden Arches group’s list of promotional material.
Earlier this year, Reynold showed of his mixologist skills with a cocktail to celebrate Father’s Day called—what else—The Vasectomy.
The Vasectomy combines an into a high ball glass of ice: one and a half ounces of Aviation Gin, one ounce of cranberry juice, three ounces of tonic water and a dash of lemon juice.
Honestly, that sounds more my speed.
Thanks for the Mc-Inspiration, Ryan, but I think it’s time to haul out the eggnog instead!
