There are new reports that say Russian authorities are denying any and all reports suggesting that Russian president Vladimir Putin is knocking at death’s door. Here’s what you need to know.

In an interview with French television news TF1 and LCI, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov shot down speculation that the 69-year-old Russia leader is in ill health and said he is not suffering from any ailments. Lavrov noted that “President Putin appears in public every day. “

Russian Authorities Deny Vladimir Putin Is Gravely Ill

“You can see him on the screens, read his speeches, listen to his speeches. I don’t think sane people can distinguish any symptoms of illness in this man,” he said.

“You can watch him on screens, read and listen to his speeches,” he said in comments released by the Russian foreign ministry. “I leave it to the conscience of those who spread such rumors despite daily opportunities to assess how anyone is looking.”

Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Russia’s Vladimir Putin he is ready to meet with officials from Russia, Ukraine, and the United Nations in Istanbul to help bring about an end to the war. Russian forces continue to pound Ukrainian positions in the country’s Donbas, which Moscow has described as an “unconditional priority.”

What’s more, A French journalist was killed by Russian artillery in the Donbas area, a local official said. French President Emmanuel Macron identified the journalist as Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff.

“On board a humanitarian bus, alongside civilians forced to flee to escape Russian bombs, he was fatally shot,” Macron tweeted. “I share the pain of the family, relatives and colleagues of Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff, to whom I send my condolences. To those who carry out the difficult mission of informing in theaters of operations, I would like to reiterate France’s unconditional support.”
