Queen Elizabeth II’s safety could be at an all-time risk following the recent incident on Christmas day in which a trespasser armed with a crossbow was arrested.
Royal Expert Claims That ‘The Queen’s Safety Is Clearly Under Threat’
That is according to Royal expert Robert Lacey. According to reports, the intruder was caught on the grounds of Windsor Castle where the Queen had reportedly been celebrating Christmas.
As such, there has been increasing safety concerns due to the fact that it is not clear how the man had managed to get so close without being apprehended earlier.
Although it is true to say that there were no injuries sustained, the very fact of the matter is that there was still a significant security breach. In an interview, Robert said: “The Queen’s safety is clearly under threat.
“It’s often been thought that Windsor is particularly at risk to intruders due to the make-up of the estate and the severity of this event should really cause alarm bells to start ringing.”
These concerns have also been expressed by insiders from the Royal Family. This is totally understandable due to the increasing age of the Queen, coupled with the fact that her health has not been in the best possible condition of late.
In addition, given that there is mass scepticism around the viability of having a monarchy any longer, there is a feeling that a growing movement could emerge which would express anti-monarchy sentiments.
A source remarked: “There is a chill in the air over what could have been.” Nevertheless, it is important to put this in its proper context. The authorities were on hand to apprehend the said individual which had prevented a disaster from occurring.
And in any event, one would have to go back far in history to see the last time that a member of the Royal family had been attacked.
Dai Davies, who happened to be a previous member of the Royal Protection Unit, had this to say: “The officers did their job and averted a disaster.
“Windsor is having an issue with intruders and need to get to the bottom of it before something more sinister comes to pass.”
