Royal expert Richard Eden says that Queen Elizabeth set the standard for royals’ conduct. She didn’t have her own charity, and she helped others with their charities.
Queen Elizabeth Served Charities She Truly Cared About
The Queen was a patron of 433 charitable organizations at the time of her death. One of the charities nearest and dearest to the Queen’s heart was the British Red Cross. She served the organization for seven decades. Her countless generous donations helped many people.
Queen Elizabeth also donated to those who experienced natural disasters, and she gave tirelessly to victims of crises in the UK. She was always searching for a justice bigger than her. In her 2016 Christmas message, she said,
“On our own, we cannot end wars or wipe out injustice, but the cumulative impact of thousands of small acts of goodness can be bigger than we imagine.”
The Queen served as an inspiration to those seeking moral goodness and the tenacity of the human spirit. Her many endeavors had a higher purpose, and she performed her work diligently and quietly, without all the fanfare.
It seems the trend has become royal members branching out to start their foundations to boost their ego, not necessarily for the sole purpose of helping others.
Richard Eden says that
“egotistical royals should stick to helping existing charities instead of seeking to create their own. Establishing personal foundations leaves the royals open to criticism and vulnerable to generous donors with dubious motives. Instead, royal family members should follow the wise example of Queen Elizabeth and Princess Anne and serve as patrons to existing foundations.”
Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Foundations has suffered a setback as donations have dwindled, and there is talk of the charity being down in donations by millions of dollars.
The Duke and Duchess’s Archewell Video
Harry and Meghan made a video highlighting all their accomplishments this past year but failed to report how much their foundation is plummeting.
The couple wants to appear like they have it together, but the truth is that they are just insecure. They made the video to trumpet the significant victory of helping others, and they want everyone to know about the good deeds they perform.
The whole notion of needing publicity for performing charity work is not something that the Queen would have approved of. She lived a life of dignity and servitude, which the Sussexes genuinely lacked.
James Holt, who works for the Archewell Foundation, saw a significant pay raise for sticking with the Duke and Duchess’s Archewell Foundation. Holt is also a close personal friend of Omid Scobie’s.
Richard Eden further explains,
“in one of those coincidences to which we have become accustomed, just a day after Kensington Palace broadcast a charming video of the Prince and Princess of Wale’s children helping their mother volunteer at a baby bank in Windsor, the Duke, and Duchess of Sussex, released a similarly slick video of their own.”
It’s almost as if the royals are competing with each other for whose charity is most important. The royals would do well to look to the Queen as an example.
