‘Rocky 4’ actor Dolph Lundgren remembers his old friend Brandon Lee’s untimely death and how the recent shooting on-set of the film ‘Rust’ shocked him. The actor spoke to Fox News about Lee’s accidental death in 1993 at the hand of another actor on the set of ‘The Crow’.
“Any other time I remember [an on-set shooting] happened was with Brandon Lee,” Lundgren said. “It’s crazy. I don’t know how that happened. There should never be any live ammo around a movie set.”
Lundgren would know a thing or two about on-set guns, being an action icon starring in films like ‘The Punisher’, ‘The Expendables’, ‘Red Scorpion’ and alongside Lee himself in the buddy cop movie, ‘Showdown in Little Tokyo’.

Lundgren continued to say that having firearms onset is “serious business”. “Usually an armorer, they’re very serious people and they’re very committed and the guns are checked.”
In October, actor Alec Baldwin fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a gun on the set of ‘Rust’, also injuring the director Joel Souza. The incident has sparked reminders of what happened to Brandon Lee, and how serious gun safety should be taken on film sets.
Lee’s sister has also been very vocal about the incident, saying that mandatory gun safety training should be required for actors.
Check out a clip from Lundgren’s and Lee‘s film ‘Showdown in Little Tokyo’ below. The two worked great together in an otherwise fun but cheesy movie but it was guaranteed that Brandon was going to be a huge star. His abilities and charisma would have made him one of the biggest stars in the movie business.
