Sorry, folks. Regé-Jean Page has denied a report that he is returning to Bridgerton for season three of the hit Netflix show. Page starred as Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, in the first series of the period drama, but did not return for season two. Here’s what you need to know.

The show, based on a series of books of the same name by Julia Quinn, follows the eight siblings of the Bridgerton family as they attempt to find love in Regency England. After being pictured in Milan with former co-star Jonathan Bailey though, rumors began to materialize that Page was in talks to return for season three. A source recently told The Sun that “there has been a dialogue between him and the show’s bosses” but “nothing has been formally agreed yet.”

However, Page quickly shut down the rumors on Instagram, writing: “The boys are back in town. (No, I’m not going back to the show btw – the papers made that one up.) But we had the best, and most stylish, catch up I’ve had in a while over some truly excellent Italian coffee and sunshine.”

Each series of Bridgerton focuses on a different Bridgerton sibling. The first followed Daphne’s (Phoebe Dynevor) romance with the Duke of Hastings and the second told the story of Bailey’s character Anthony’s (Jonathan Bailey) relationship with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).

The third season deviates from the order of Julia Quinn’s novel series and will focus on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan).

Meanwhile, Page’s former co-star Nicola Coughlan told Netflix’s Tudum of the upcoming storyline: “I feel like if you see Penelope fawning over this boy for another season, you’ll be like, ‘Get it together! Come on, move on and get over it. Jess has talked to Luke and I through the season, and I think people are going to be really obsessed. I think book fans are going to be happy.”
